Biography

Rúben Amorim is a well-known retired professional football player who played as a midfielder at Sport Lisboa and Benfica for many years.

Born in Lisbon on 27 January 1985, Rúben starts his senior career in Belenenses, where he played from 2003 to 2008. Then he moved to SL Benfica, the club where he spent most of his professional career. Rúben won ten major titles, including three Primeira Liga championships. After playing four full seasons at Benfica, he was loaned to SC Braga, having played all season there During 12 seasons in Portugal, he did a total of 221 games and 16 goals.

On 14 August 2015, Amorim joined Al-Wakrah Sport Club in Qatar on a season-long deal.[13] On 4 April 2017, after more than one year of inactivity, the 32-year-old terminated his contract with Benfica and retired.

Amorim was also a portuguese international player, having represented the portuguese national team in 12 matches and participated in two World Cups.
