José Gomes Pereira following a Medical Doctor degree and a PhD in Sport Sciences is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Lisbon, where he is an academic for more than 30 years. He is a former Olympic swimmer (1976) than owned many Portuguese records.
As a Medical Doctor he was the Clinical Director of the Portuguese National teams of the Portuguese Football Federation (1990-1993); he was Olympic Medical Doctor (1996), and the Clinical Director of Sporting Clube de Portugal (2000-2011).
He is a Fellow and Professional Member of the European College of Sport Science, and of the American College of Sports Medicine. Professor Gomes Pereira’s research interests include the medical and physiological factors of high-level sports.
