Biography

I currently hold a BA (Sport Science) degree and I have been employed full-time at The King’s School Robin Hills since January 2008 as a Sports Manager (I’m also the Head of Football for grades 1 – 12).  My job entails being a Physical Education teacher, managing sporting codes and Long-Term Athlete Development programme-design; and coaching various sports.  Over and above this I am involved with coaching football at Wits University FC and running my own individual football coaching company.

While working at the school and the club, I have managed to complete courses – such as the one regarding football periodization – offered by World Football Academy (WFA) hosted by world-renowned football conditioning expert Raymond Verheijen.  I also had the privilege of attending the periodization expert meeting in South Africa.  I’ve found this information to be very helpful in changing my coaching approach and management of players with whom I work.  Added to that, I recently attended a Football Psychology course hosted by Dan Abrahams and SBI Football Management by Diego Valdes.

My hope is to be able to equip myself so that I can uplift my community, empower the previously disadvantaged, and therefore advance South African football. Football is the number one sport in South Africa and it has been growing from strength to strength after the 2010 World Cup.

Unfortunately we do not have courses like this in South Africa that cater specifically for football high performance coaching.  It would be an honour to represent my country and Africa at the number one University in Portugal.

I am passionate about football and using it as a tool to change players’ lives.  I have ambitions to work at the Elite level (local or international) and I believe that this course will give me the necessary skills needed to succeed and meet the demands of working in different environments.
